What is a Chase Funko Pop?
A Chase is a rarer version of a regular Pop. It's the same character with a twist — a different finish, colour or look — and it's packed at random in place of the common figure. Here's what Funko says about them, and what collectors look for.
The short answer
Funko describes a Chase as “a highly collectible and limited quantity variation of a Funko Pop!” Each Chase is tied to a regular (“common”) Pop of the same character, but changes something about the figure. On Funko's own product pages, examples include a version of Vision without his human disguise, and a “bloody” Chainsaw Man.
What are the odds of getting a Chase?
On Funko's product pages for Chase-eligible Pops, the wording is a “1 in 6 chance” of finding the Chase. Funko also states plainly that “Chase variants are shipped at random. Receiving a chase with purchase is not guaranteed.”
Collectors report that some lines use rarer ratios, but Funko's published wording is 1 in 6. Buying six of the same Pop does not guarantee a Chase: each box is its own roll of the dice.
How to tell if your Pop is a Chase
- Look for the Chase sticker. Collectors describe it as a gold sticker on the front of the box window, usually reading “Chase” or “Chase Limited Edition”. Funko doesn't publish an official description, and the design can vary between years and product lines.
- Compare it with the common. A Chase usually differs in an obvious way: glow-in-the-dark, metallic, chrome, flocked (fuzzy), clear, “bloody”, a different colour scheme, or an alternate costume or accessory.
- Check the box art. The figure inside should match the Chase version, not the common. A Chase sticker on a common figure is a red flag.
Can you buy a Chase directly?
Not at regular retail as a guaranteed purchase. Because Funko ships them at random in place of the common, stores can't sell you one on purpose. Most collectors either get lucky in a store or buy one from another collector on the secondary market.
Chase vs. Limited Edition vs. Pops! With Purpose
- Chase: a randomly packed variant of a common Pop.
- Limited Edition: Funko uses this for “one-run collectibles” with highly limited piece counts that aren't restocked once sold out. Some carry a numbered sticker such as “LE 1000”.
- Pops! With Purpose: Funko's charity line, launched in 2021. These have a dedicated sticker and box art showing Funko made a charitable donation. They have nothing to do with Chase odds.
Keeping track of your Chases
If you collect Chases, it helps to record them separately from the common so you never mix them up — especially when you're checking your shelf in a store before buying. PopArchive lets you mark each Pop as Chase, Vaulted, Flocked, Exclusive and more, and you can look up any Pop's current eBay listings for free.
Common questions
What are the odds of getting a Chase Funko Pop?
Funko's product pages describe a “1 in 6 chance” for Chase-eligible Pops, and Funko says a Chase is never guaranteed with a purchase. Collectors report rarer ratios on some lines.
How do I know if my Funko Pop is a Chase?
Look for the Chase sticker on the front of the box window (collectors describe it as gold), and compare the figure with the common version: a Chase usually has a different finish or look, such as glow, metallic, flocked or an alternate design.
Is a Chase the same as a Limited Edition Pop?
No. A Chase is a randomly packed variant of a common Pop. Funko uses “Limited Edition” for one-run collectibles with a capped piece count that aren't restocked.
Can you buy a Chase Funko Pop directly?
Not as a guaranteed retail purchase. Funko ships Chases at random in place of the common figure, so most collectors find one by chance or buy one on the secondary market.
